St. Lazar’s day

The day of St. Lazar is celebrated always in the last Saturday before Easter. It is a symbolic holiday of the maidens which refers to the male caroling in the winter.

Dressed in new cloths and wreaths on the heads the maids sing songs full of bestwishes for fertility in the fields, vineyards and life stocks. The housekeepers present them with eggs which are placed in baskets.
